03 Flagship course

The first six weeks of twenty

Each week brings a lesson, a live session and an exercise your mentor reviews. This is how Interface Motion Design begins.

All 20 weeks in detail →
  1. Week 1Module 1 · Timing and spacing

    Keyframes and timing

    • Compositions, layers and keyframes in After Effects
    • Timing versus spacing: what each controls
    • Which animation principles apply to interfaces

PracticeMove a square across the frame in 12, 24 and 36 frames, then compare.

    → Three MP4s at 60 fps

  2. Week 2Module 1 · Timing and spacing

    The bouncing ball

    • Squash and stretch that keeps the volume
    • Anticipation and follow-through
    • Arcs and decaying bounce heights

PracticeAnimate a bouncing ball with squash and stretch and decaying bounces.

    → MP4, 4 seconds, 60 fps

  3. Week 3Module 2 · Curves and easing

    Curves in the Graph Editor

    • Value graph versus speed graph
    • Keyframe handles and influence in Keyframe Velocity
    • Linear, ease-in, ease-out and ease-in-out

PracticeRepeat one move with four easing types and compare their speed graphs.

→ MP4 with four versions side by side

  4. Week 4Module 2 · Curves and easing

    Entrances and exits

    • Why entrances ease out and exits ease in
    • How duration depends on distance and size
    • Turning an After Effects curve into cubic-bezier

PracticeAnimate a card entrance with three curves, then pick one and justify it.

    → MP4 and a 3–5 sentence rationale

  5. Week 5Module 3 · Micro-interactions

    Component states

    • States of buttons, toggles and inputs
    • Variants and interactive components in Figma
    • How Smart Animate matches layers by name

PracticeBuild a toggle that animates between its states with Smart Animate.

→ Link to a Figma prototype

  6. Week 6Module 3 · Micro-interactions

    Responding to input

    • Triggers: on click, while hovering, after delay
    • Easing and spring curves in Figma prototypes
    • Variables and conditionals for prototype state

PracticeBuild an input field with focus, error and success states.

→ Figma prototype with three states

04 Curve

The curve decides

Same distance, same duration, yet it feels different. Drag the curve handles, play the animation and take the value for CSS. This is where module two begins.

The flagship course takes 8–10 hours: a lesson, the live session and an exercise. Kinetic Typography takes 6–8 hours, Blender about 8.

Do I need After Effects experience?

Not for Interface Motion Design: module one covers the basics. The Kinetic Typography intensive needs a basic level: keyframes, layers, precomps.

How does paying in parts work?

The course price is split into 2–6 monthly payments with no surcharge. The first payment is due when you enrol, the rest once a month on the same date.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, a full refund within the first 14 days of the course. After that there is no refund, but you can move to the next cohort once.
